Move over, sir! women working on the railroad exhibit

Date: march 9-23 during regular depot hours

Something new is crossing the tracks at the Olde Towne Depot! Since the early 19th century, women have held critical roles in the operation and expansion of the railroad, so in honor of Women’s History Month, the Depot will celebrate those groundbreaking women with a temporary exhibit produced by Union Pacific Railroad Museum. “Move Over, Sir! Women Working on the Railroad” acknowledges the many contributions that women have made to the railroad. From stewardesses to telegraphers to switchmen, women have occupied communication and operational railroad jobs. Stop by the Depot to learn more about where women got their start on the railroad and how the railroad workforce is still impacted by women today.

This exhibit is on display for a limited time, so visit the Olde Towne Depot and celebrate women, present and past, who have kept our nation moving forward.
